Clinical Trials

As a patient, you may have the option to take part in a clinical trial. Therapeutic clinical trials assess the safety and effects of new treatments. Nontherapeutic studies include projects that assess patient-reported symptoms, collect patient tissue samples for future research or evaluate new medical imaging techniques.

Only patients who volunteer will participate in clinical trials. Your health care provider may ask whether you would like to enter a trial. You might also find out about a trial from another patient, through a support group or from a website. Learn as much as you can about the trial before you decide.
